Untitled (Series) is composed from found marks collected from the internet. Produced as by-products of construction, repair, measurement, annotation and other forms of human labour. Made in the service of practical tasks, they possess a vitality and directness.
The collected marks form a repertoire from which each composition is constructed. Working with gestures created for other purposes frees the process from the burden of invention, allowing relationships to emerge from an existing visual language rather than expressive intention. The marks are not illustrations or symbols, but anonymous traces of human activity. Their aesthetic quality is accidental. They are not trying to signify; they simply do their job.
Drawn from countless acts of labour, the marks belong to a shared visual repertoire produced collectively rather than authored individually. They carry the honesty of work performed for another purpose, revealing a visual culture that normally passes unnoticed. Rather than studying images made for contemplation, the series turns its attention to the forms generated through everyday activity itself.
The resulting compositions retain the raw energy of their origins while suggesting the emergence of unfamiliar constructions. They appear as fragments of structures pressing through the polished surface of everyday life, not fully formed but still in a state of becoming. Their incompleteness leaves open the possibility that the systems—both physical and psychological—that shape our experience are neither fixed nor inevitable, but remain capable of change.
Untitled (Series) explores the possibility that beneath the visible world lies a collective visual order embedded within ordinary practices rather than individual intention. Accumulated across countless anonymous actions, these found marks begin to suggest patterns and relationships that no one set out to create.
